 * Hello,
 * I have never used a CMS or a blog software before, my pages have always been
   static HTML+CSS and later I’ve used PHP to write my own simple CMS.
 * Now I’m thinking about using WordPress for my next site, but as it will be a
   page for a dentist, it will be a very static page and not a blog at all. There
   will be some updates on a “news” page, but they won’t happen too frequently.
   The other pages will be very static and mostly contain just one “article” or
   two.
 * This means that most features will be turned off, like commenting, liking, following,
   RSS, categories, and who knows what all. There will only be a navigation menu
   on the left border, a logo on the top, and the page content of course.
 * Now, would you still recommend using WordPress for that project, or would it
   make more sense to stick with static HTML and maybe some PHP? I guess it should
   be generally possible to create a static page in WordPress, but are there any
   things that I should be aware of? Also, I don’t know how much learning overhead
   there is with WordPress, do you think I could get along with it quickly?
 * Nice greetings
    ZeHa

 * I use WordPress for a lot of sites like this, so that the client can update the
   content themselves later. And it certainly sounds like a perfect project for
   you to get started with WordPress. Which you absolutely should and will do absolutely
   fine with as you know HTML, CSS and PHP.
 * For this you would [create a static front page](http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page)
   and use the posts for the news updates.
 * And in your [template](http://codex.wordpress.org/Stepping_Into_Templates), you
   will have no trouble removing the code that generates comments, tagclouds and
   all the other blog-stuff you don’t need.
 * Good luck!

 * Thanks for your answer, that sounds great. Would you like to share a few links
   to your static sites, so that I could get some impressions?

 * If you check the stuff tagged [webdesign on my blog](http://crayoncrisis.com/tag/web-design/),
   all the newest are WordPress. Even [one in English](http://youshou.no/). 😉 Perhaps
   better examples for you at the [WordPress Showcase](http://wordpress.org/showcase/).
