Essentially I’ve been running my blog using wordpress software for a couple of years. (Like version 2.1 or something). Lately I’ve wanted to redesign my whole website, and I’ve heard about people claiming to use wordpress for the whole thing. So I had my sysadmin give me a new temporary subdomain, and I installed 2.7.

Basically here’s how I want my site setup. At the top I would have a horizontal navbar with some pages. (about, games and so forth), but pages that didn’t have the regualr blog side-bar stuff (so it looks like a standard non-wordpress site). Also I wanted a news page that runs off of my blog (so I could write regular posts and put it in say a news catagory or whatever) so when I wrote a news post only the news items would show up on that news page. Then if you click another button at the top it would go to my regular blog which would show everything except the news posts.

I’m running off of one data base, and I’m pretty sure what I want is possible, i just don’t know where to start. I think I would have to write some php code (which I know nothing about but am willing to learn, not asking anyone to write me any code) to “syphon” off the news posts or something of that nature.

Any help anyone can give would be appreciated.
    Thanks
