 * Hello, I have the latest version of yoast running on most of my websites and
   I was just wondering if I can continue to use yoast the way I have been before
   14.0 was released, specifically without using the new “index your posts to load
   faster” aka indexables as you call them.
 * I don’t quiet understand what it does and it looks like it is causing more issues
   than it is solving, with that said, I am going to lose any SEO benefits if I
   decide to NOT use it.

 * Hi [@kd35](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kd35/),
 * Thank you for reaching out!
 * We understand that it’s a little daunting to make the update to 14.x, this is
   a major release where Yoast SEO changes the way it saves its data into your database.
   In previous versions, we would write all the information into the default database
   tables such as your posts or postmeta tables, whereas Yoast 14.0 and above will
   create separate database tables to store this data in. This means that since
   14.0, the Yoast queries to the database are much quicker and this should improve
   the site speed. We have some more information on this major release here: [https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-14-0/](https://yoast.com/yoast-seo-14-0/).
 * We encourage you to try out the latest 14.2 release in a staging site to check
   whether the plugins and themes are compatible with these changes and if so, we
   encourage you just to update and take advantage of these improvements.
 * Hope this explains.
