Using templates
-
I have the home page started with the front page template auto-applied. Shouldn’t the page show in the Pages list?
I customized a Lemmony Page template but it doesn’t appear in the drop down menu on Page Editor or within quick edit on pages list.
I have 8.2 set for php.I looked for documentation.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Jan

Hi there,
Currently, that is how the full site edit themes work. The front page is only customizable in the Site Editor. It is possible that you will need to add your pages manually to the Navigation block by going to Site Editor and editing Header there.
There will be more information regarding how full-site editor themes work.

Thanks, got that. The pressing problem is I don’t have the Lemmony templates in the Page Editor dropdown menus to apply them. What am I doing wrong? I have edited a Lemmony Page template to use.
Maybe you can attach a screenshot? That would help a lot to understand what could be the issue
This interface won’t let me upload image but here is a link test β League of Women Voters of Mississippi (jwtest.net)
The only choices given in circled menu are Default and Page (without title). There are other bundled templates with the theme.
I did realize that Default equals Page and it applies to new pages.thank you.
Hi there,
It seems that we got a little confused regarding this issue and we will try to explain how we understood it.
You don’t really need to change the “Template” option (it is only for the whole page structure, not for the content itself). For example, we created a template that will hide the title.
For most of the pages, you can just build them directly in the pages section and you don’t need to change the “Template” option. The only difference is for the front page, that page content needs to be edited under Edit Site > Templates > Front Page.
You can also import our demo content under the Lemmony dashboard. It will add multiple pages and might help you to better understand how this works.
Hopefully it helps.

Thanks, I’m getting used to this Blocks theme. It’s super and deserves all the good reviews. Working as a board member for this nonprofit, the “free” part is most appreciated.
I will share for anyone who needs to know: adding the Gutenberg plugin allows one to see the Revisions list on the Home page/template.Thank you for sharing this! π
I was wondering if you could help me with some info. You said:
“Currently, that is how the full site edit themes work. The front page is only customizable in the Site Editor.“
I’m having problems tracking down the source of this. Some people in the forums are saying what you said. But some people are saying that a theme should be able to handle Site Editor Front Page and static Page as Front Page. I notice that themes like Blockster, Twenty Twenty-Three, Twenty Twenty-Two, Spectra One, and others still allow you to set a static page as the homepage/Front Page. What is the difference in Lemmony not being able to use a static page at the homepage/Front Page?
Hi,
I’m new to using a block theme and enjoying it so far but struggling to get to grips with adding extra pages – creating a new page gives me a set layout (with fixed header) and no access to any style editing.
I have already created my homepage using the site editor and happy with it, I just need to add an extra info page separately.I see you mention importing the demo pages to see how those work, if I do this will it write over my homepage? Or are the demo pages just extra pages.
Thanks in advance,
Sophie
I’ve since found the page templates but can’t see how to make this page live as there is no URL – it’s not in the list of live pages.
Also I need to be able to change the end URL of my pages and it doesn’t seem like it’s possible with this theme? so website.com/thissection
Thanks!
@medesigngood Good question! This is our first block theme, so we are still learning the best approaches how to build these themes. We did some digging regarding this topic and it seems that we found out why it is happening. When we were creating the Lemmony theme we also tested a lot of popular block themes and it seems that we have chosen a template file structure that requires changing the front page in the site editor (most of the themes we tested used our current approach). Currently, we are not sure if changing that would be a good idea as it could mess up a lot of website front pages.
@vienna94 Those pages will be just extra pages and won’t change anything regarding to the front page. We recommend importing them and seeing them yourself.
That also answers your second question as it seems that you need to create a new page in the page section (not in the site editor > page templates).
Hi. We have the same issue.
We can’t change Templates on Pages. Only two options available. We want to use “Index” template, but it is not available in the scroll down options.
And it certainly exists.
It only shows the templates “Default” and “Page”. And we need to use “Index” Template for Blog.
See their reply to me upthread. Us Front Page template.
In the latest theme versions there is a new way on how to set a page as the index page:
- Edit existing page or create a new one (Pages > Add New)
1. Under summary set Template to βPage (without title)β
2. Add patterns and modify the content as needed - Set the page as Homepage (Settings > Reading > Your homepage displays)
- Open the front page template (Appearance > Editor > Templates > Front Page)
1. Backup the content (if needed)
2. Delete all blocks/content
3. Add pattern βFront page (inherits homepage content)β (+ button > Patterns > Enter name inside the search)
4. View your homepage
Hopefully that helps.
