Support » Fixing WordPress » Using subfolder under WordPress Installation

  • Hello,

I have a WordPress 2.9.2 installation (IIS 6.0) in the root directory of my site and I’ve created a sub-directory with several files for users to download (not part of the actual WordPress installation). Unfortunately, every time I enter the URL to this sub-directory, it takes me back to the WordPress installation (with errors) and I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix this.

    1) –> Root directory, WordPress Installation

    2) –> Location of files for download (permissions are set to allow for directory browsing so that users can view and download the files that they need)

When I enter the URL for the sub-directory in my browser (as per #2 above), it for some reason takes me to #1 with the following error message:

    Webpage error details

    Message: Unterminated string constant
    Line: 1403
    Char: 63
    Code: 0

Message: ‘J.parentNode’ is null or not an object
    Line: 5
    Char: 1913
    Code: 0

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

  • have you tried putting a slash ( / ) at the end like this?

    Thank you for your feedback.

I tried doing that to no avail. I even tried the Redirection plug-in to see if it would make a difference but it hadn’t.

Any ideas on where the problem might be? Server-level or installation?

does your subfolder contain any files, specially an index.php or index.html? maybe that’s causing it to redirect. i tried it on a couple of my sites but didn’t encounter that problem.
sorry i’m not really a programmer, but i’ve built a few sites to kind of work my way around php and stuff.
