Support » Plugin: HTML5 jQuery Audio Player » Using shortcode in button link to "Add to cart".

    WordPress version: 3.5.1
    Plugin version: 2.1

    Hi there.

I want to use one of the button links to “add to cart” directly to the ecommerce called “WordPress Simple Ecommerce Shopping Cart Plugin- Sell products through Paypal“. This Simple Ecommerce has the ability to use shortcodes – in this case [simpleecommcart_add_to_cart id=”prodcutID” ]
After creating a product in the ecommerce it gets the id-tag “ID=1”.
So I put the shortcode [simpleecommcart_add_to_cart id=”1″ ] in the “button 3 link” as the Simple Ecommerce support says.

I expected the plugin to do this:
By clicking the buy button I expected the product to be added to cart.

    Instead it did this:
Gave me an 404 page: “Error 404 | Nothing found!”

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
I have tried the direct links with the shortcode but nothing helps.

    Another weird problem:
When I go into my play list again and edit the track mentioned above, the button link has been converted to: [simpleecommcart_add_to_cart id=\
    Could this be the problem?

  • One more thing I have noticed. In the play list the link says:[simpleecommcart_add_to_cart id="1" ]

If I copy the link and paste it again it says:

    * Does the HTML5 jQuery Audio Player have problems with [ ] ?
    * Would it be possible to “hack” the button 3 link so it will leave out the url? (I believe a shortcode does not require an url for it to work)..

Just to let you guys know I have switch to WP e-Commerce – it also supports [short codes].

Dear creators of the HTML5 jQuery Audio Player.
Would it be possible to add a function in future release, where you can chose if the 3 “buy buttons” should be a link or a short-code? (separately preferred as I only want button 3 to use short-code).

For me and my users this player would be a PERFECT tool if the third button could use a short-code. That way people can listen to my music and add directly to cart without leaving the page!

I really hope this is possible and will be in the Pro version.

Yep definitely! This is a really good idea and I will definitely look into adding support for shortcode in the buy fields in future release.

Sorry for not getting to this thread sooner!

    Hi Maeve,

I am looking SO much forward to it and really hope it’s possible. Would make the player absolutely perfect !!

    Thanks 🙂

    Yep BIG +1 for this…

    Hi AlienHand-dk

I visited your website and saw you fixed the issue? A neat buy button now appears.
How did you managed to do this?

Which player and eCommerce system are you using? And do you host your own files instead of using a third party solution?

I’m trying to set up a site like yours for underground music.

With WooCommerce it’s just not becoming what i want… hope to hear from you!

Yes some good ideas on your site AlienHand, how did you incorporate the buy buttons etc? Hope you can shed some light?

    AlienHand’s site =

Checking the code, I think he’s just linked the player buy button to a new page where the download can be purchased via WP eCommerce plugin.

Actually just wanted to post an update on this issue: I will be releasing v2.2 in a few days which has a huge amount of bug fixes. v2.3 is also in development – among other major new features I’m including the feature suggested in this thread which is to allow shortcode in the buy fields. This theoretically means you could link the buttons to a buy function of any eCommerce plugin. I’ll be paying particular attention to making it compatible with Easy Digital Downloads plugin by Pippin Williamson. So if you’re looking for a plugin to sell your music in correlation with this audio player plugin I’d recommend you check out EDD.
