Support » Plugin: WordPress SEO Plugin - Rank Math » using remote urls in the image picker

  • Resolved jiggaman

Wanting to use images that I can grab from an absolute url on a 3rd party cdn, however the image picker seems to lack that tab which is part of normal wordpress functionality.

Could you please check your image settings to allow for the user to intert a url path to the image?

    Thanks guys!

    Hello @jiggaman

    Thank you for your message.

As much as we want to do it, it is not possible with the logic we have in the plugin.

The reason, why we are not providing that option is because we are storing the media ID with the URL. We need media ID to get image attributes like height, width, alt, etc. Using a CDN link would restrict the plugin and fail many operations.

With that being said, there are existing feature requests, so I’ve added your vote to our internal suggestions lists. If your suggestions are something that we’re able to introduce, we’ll be sure to let you know.

If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know. We are here to assist.

perhaps you can make that avail for logo as the logo schema i don’t see you guys setting a height/width

Definitely not a resolved issue yet…the paths to images in the schema don’t have a height or width set up for logo, so inserting a remote url from my cdn should not be an issue.

Furthermore, its showing the network domain name path to the logo and not the mapped domain path for the logo. The other images in the schema do show the domain mapped path.

So work needs to be done to address the logo in schema.
