Using Redirection plugin

I’ve recently changed my permalink structure and so have installed the Redirection plugin to fix the broken URL’s that have resulted in that change.

Unfortunately my web developer tells me that they dont have experience to figure out how it works – so I’m hoping that someone here can give me some guidance on how to set up automatic redirects so that none of my readers experience 404 errors when they click on an old URL.

This is quite a big deal for me as it affects SEO, but I am not technical and now that my developer can’t help, I am a bit stuck.

I hope someone here can give me some step by step instructions as to how to get the redirection plugin working automatically. It does seem to be working, and collecting 404’s, but I cannot figure out how to set it to automatically go to the right link.
