    Hi Wayne,

I’m just wondering if you or anyone else has adapted Postie for Woocommerce? ie. You would be able to add Woocommerce Products by Postie.

    Cheers,

    Matt

I have not heard of anyone doing this. I suspect it is possible, but likely complicated to figure out and the emails would likely be very obtuse (lots of shortcodes to set variables etc)

What problem are you trying to solve?

Yeah, I thought it might be complicated.

We are setting up a website that will have 500 – 1000 Woocommerce products in it, and 40 – 50 new products added every week. We thought it would be ideal to set up a Google spreadsheet that acts as a database of the products, that fires off Postie emails to the website with the products each week. We have this working for another website we have (with Posts), but we were hoping to transfer this ability to Woocommerce products. Any ideas?

Does Woocommerce support the REST API?

Maybe something here would help https://woocommerce.com/product-category/woocommerce-extensions/import-export-extensions/

Those extensions look like they’ll perform the functionality we’re after. Unfortunately they won’t be able to be triggered, as the uploading of CSV will still be a manual job.

With Google sheets we are effectively triggering a cron job to send the emails to Postie, that get uploaded on a schedule we set. It would have been ideal to have transferred this same ability from regular Posts to Woocommerce, but it doesn’t appear that anyone has sat down to figure out all the components (like you say, it would be tricky with lots of variables etc.).

But thanks for your comments, if we decide that a CSV import is an appropriate next step then we will probably look at buying that extension.

    Take a look at https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-rest-api/

Your cron job could fire off some http requests rather than sending email.

Fantastic, thanks a lot Wayne. You are always so helpful. I appreciate it.
