Hello, I have a blog about various subjects, often related. When I post articles, I use the side column to assign tags so that visitors can more easily find particular subjects using the WordPress Tag Cloud. I have been trying to find a plugin that will allow me to change the default tag cloud widget into one where I can list things based on subjects, with sub-categories derived from the tags. Is this plugin something I can use for that?
I installed the free one to try it out and made a few tag groups for subjects, but when I try to assign tags to each group, I don’t see any of the tags from my blog posts. Thanks for any help.

  • Yes, you can display your tags under tabs or in an accordion. Visitors will click on the subjects and then they see only tags that belong to these subjects.

I checked your site and all tags appear as “not assigned” to any group. When you go to the tags page, do you see a menu above the list that lets you filter by group? (You can see it here: https://documentation.chattymango.com/documentation/tag-groups/working-with-tag-groups/tag-filter/ )

If not, could you go to the Tag Groups settings, Troubleshooting, and press the button to reset the menu. If you then return to the tags page, are the tags back? If that’s the case then one of your plugins (or the theme) is most likely causing a JavaScript error. Steps 2 and 3 of the this document might help to find out the cause: https://documentation.chattymango.com/documentation/tag-groups/troubleshooting/where-are-my-tags-my-tags-are-gone/

    Hi Chris,
I think I have it mostly figured out. I’m not sure what you had looked at, but my site is currently set up with your plugin. Can you take a look. Does it make sense to do it that way? Is there a better idea? What I need is pretty simple. I think this works. Is there something more in the premium version that would do better?
If this works out, I am definitely going to send a donation! Thank you!

It looks great! You even found a good separator that matches the topic.

Previously I looked at the data from the REST API.

You could still fine-tune the font sizes (smallest, largest) for readability, append the post count to each tag, sort the tags by post count etc., but that’s really optional. I wouldn’t change too much.
