our site, http://www.parentingteensresourcenetwork.org , is mostly using WP as a CMS, so we can take advantage of things like permalinks and comments, but also control top-level category pages with a more designed approach.
anyway, because our categories are static I’m trying to create a dynamic PHP-driven menu to show sub-menus when you’re on a specific category. if you look at the source code of the homepage you’ll see sub-menus as UL’s that have an inline style of display:none; this was supposed to be controlled using the switch() function based on where you are on the site.
the problem is that the permalink isn’t recognized by any PHP commands that try to retrieve a URL or path; it just returns index.php as the URL, the directory, etc.
any workarounds to this issue? I’d hate to go back to a flyout menu, they’re so fickle between different browsers.
