# Using Multiple Languages

 * I have built a website for a church in English. They now have services for a 
   group of people who speak another language. The language is not one that is available
   on wordpress or google translate or anything. It is not a widely spoken language.
   You have to have a special font installed on your computer to write in or read
   the language, otherwise it just looks like a jumble of English letters. How can
   I make this work on the website? They would like to have menus and pages written
   in their language. They do not want just images of things they have typed. I 
   would appreciate your help!

 * As long as you have resources available to manage the translations, there is 
   no significant problem. Start with [Multilingual WordPress](https://codex.wordpress.org/Multilingual_WordPress),
   which addresses the site content being available in different languages. This
   part does not address the WP user interface. For that, review internationalization
   and localization sections of the [Plugin Handbook](https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/internationalization/).
   The WP polyglots team has been implementing a crowd sourced translation scheme
   for plugins and themes. I imagine even obscure languages are welcome to join 
   in, or you can do your own thing and not even involve polyglots. More information

 * A special font is not a problem either, as far as WP is concerned, it’s just 
   another font specified by the theme’s CSS rules. It can be conditionally loaded
   only when the locale setting is for this little known language.
 * Out of curiosity, may I ask what language we’re talking about? It’s not necessary
   to reveal this if you’d rather not. I’m a bit of a font and glyph nerd and am
   merely curious.
