Using multiple domains

I installed Polylang as I’m planning on creating an english version of my current website https://www.meerdangames.nl/. Because both the name ‘meer dan games’ and the ‘.nl’ domain are dutch, i’ve also registered an english domain: beyondvideogaming.com.

According to Polylang, I should now be able to use meerdangames.nl for my Dutch website and beyondvideogaming.com for my English website. However, I always end up at the Dutch version of my website.

Both domains and the actual hosting are part of the same hosting package. Both are set as an ‘internal redirect’ to the root map (‘/’) of the hosting. In the settings of the polylang pluign, I’ve set meerdangames.nl as the dutch domain and beyondvideogaming.com as the english domain. Yet… I still can’t reach the English site. Even when using the languague switcher, or even when I try to view the English Homepage right from the CMS, I always end up at the Dutch website. Do I need to make additional changes to the htcaccess file or the index.php? Polylang (https://polylang.pro/doc/url-modifications/) doesn’t mention any of this but I can’t think of anything else. Any word of advise?
