• Hello,

I just installed the MailChimp Widget plugin and got it up and running.
Now i have 1 question; When users subscribe to my list they will eventually end up at the ‘conformation thank-you page’. This page is ‘hosted’ on my website. Am i able to get and use the MERGETAGS from this form into my website?

[Moderator Note: No bumping, thank you.]

  • Hey there,

Thanks for posting. This goes a bit outside of the scope of the plugin forum, but I’d be happy to help get you started in the right direction.

It sounds like you’ve set a custom URL for the confirmation thank you page, which is hosted on your site. On this page, you’d like to display specific information that you subscribers signed up with, like for example their ‘first name’.

I’m afraid that the custom redirect confirmation thank you page option does not have the ability to pass back data to your site. For this reason, it would not be able to pass back data like the ‘first name’ of the subscriber in order for you to use on your custom thank you page hosted on your site.

Alternatively, you may consider using the MailChimp-hosted confirmation thank you page, which does have the option to use those merge tags to fill in subscriber-specific data. If the design is an issue, you can even go as far as using ‘advanced forms’ if you’re a paid user to completely re-code the design of the Mailchimp-hosted confirmation thank you page, and then utilize the merge tag functionality there. Also, you could consider using the MailChimp API to retrieve subscriber details on your website’s end, but this would require some development experience and may not be suitable for the workflow that you’re looking to maintain throughout the signup process.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to post back here and I’d be happy to help!
