# Using ithemes without .htaccess – Problems?

 * Hi Folks,
 * I am using ithemes on a couple of pages – great plugin btw!
    Now my provider 
   WP-Engine stops the .htaccess support with end of 10/22.
 * Can I still use all of the ithemes functions?
 * In fact automatically adding users to the ban-list will not work anymore I guess…
   how can I solve that?
 * In fact Wp-Eninge offers [https://wpengine.com/support/weaab-rules/](https://wpengine.com/support/weaab-rules/)
   now, instead of htaccess, based on nginx… but how to use that for auto-bans?

   out. iTSec will still work as expected except for a few features. Please refer
   to this [article](https://help.ithemes.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043921354-What-Rules-are-Enforced-by-the-htaccess-File-in-iThemes-Security-Pro-).
   It is indicated in the article that the Bans and Lockouts will still be executed
   without the .htaccess file. The other settings that depend on the .htaccess file
   would need to be manually converted to the WP Engine’s web rules, which, unfortunately,
   we won’t be able to provide. I hope this answers your question.

   for ur answer!
    So when I understand you correctly, ithemes will still be able
   to automatically add users and hosts to a banned list, if they have to many bad
   login attempts – without using a .htaccess file. Right?
