 * I had translated my site using PO edit. I am trying to use Loco Translate to
take over the translation from the existing po and mo files. Is that possible?
 * Thank you in advance for your consideration.

 * Yes it is possible. Did you try it?

 * When I tried to create a new language, the Loco Edit told me that the files already
existed. Then I renamed the existing files, let Loco Edit create its own files
and then deleted what Loco Edit created and restored the already translated files.
 * However, when I refreshed the Loco edit screen the language had disappeared.
 * I must be doing something wrong. By the way, thank you so so much for this amazing
plugin. It makes life so much easier!
 * Thank you in advance for your help as well.

 * 1) what theme are you translating?
    2) what are the file paths you’ve created?

 * I don’t see anything wrong with what you’re doing here.
 * As you’ve been swapping files about then it’s possible the cache has got messed
up. Try enabling WP_DEBUG mode and see if that fixes it.
