That should be correct. Sometimes you may have to also do a DNS flush from your command line when working with the hosts file. We also have a write-up here on the process:

hello , your plugin is very good but when i move my one site to siteground host my all backups not working properly please check , issue was when restore the backup database not connecting properly and site front end text image etc all wrongly showing and to much issue i tried many times but this issue not your plugin i think sitehost making some security something like that please check and help me

it did work to a degree – using the host on my computer to test it. Its gone a bit weird, i can log on as admin, but the pages get this:
403 – Forbidden
Access to this page is forbidden.
Im having issues with SSL just to run and test it before changing the DNS…..but really weird now……
