# Using border-left with comments

 * I am using the “Painted Desert” theme, modified considerably. I tried to add 
   a border-left effect to my alternating comments (see below). When I did, each
   comment was placed one step to the left so that it looked like this:
 * | comment 1
    | omment 2 | mment 3 | ment 4
 * Has anyone ever seen this? As soon as I pulled out the border-left from my stylesheet,
   it was restored – everything lined back up – but I’m curious now if anyone knows
   what causes the shift to the left – and how to fix it so I can have border-left
   back.
