Using a pre-existing subdirectory install

When I was installing and setting up WordPress, I think I accidentally set my site’s (I got a myname.me domain from about.me website) WordPress url to myname.me/wp instead of just myname.me. So I have to go to myname.me/wp to see my WordPress site instead of just going to myname.me. When I go to myname.me, I get

admin/
cgi-bin/
wp/

I’m following WordPress’s ‘Using a pre-existing subdirectory install” to fix it.

However, I’m stuck on step 4. “Copy (NOT MOVE!) the index.php and .htaccess files from the WordPress (wordpress in our example) directory into the root directory of your site”, I’m not sure where to find the index.php and .htaccess files from the WordPress directory.

I’m using FileZila and I can find my index.php in my public_html or www directories but that’s where I’m supposed to paste the index.php from my WordPress directory, right?

And namepcheap is my host and I’m using cPanel, however, I can’t find my .htacess files at all. And yes, I did check to have it show hidden files.

Can someone help me? Thanks!
