Users with Admin and Board roles show up twice

Hi. For some reason, if I assign both an Administrator and Board role to a user, under “Board Mgmt -> Board Users”, each board member shows up twice. If I remove one of the roles, they only show up once.

I wanted to add another page that displays the board members using [list_board_members] to generate the content of the page, but they also show up twice on that page as well. Of course, my client called this out, as both the Board Members and Board Committees widgets on the dashboard show duplicate members.

It’s also worth noting that I’m using the User Role Editor plugin to enable me to assign multiple roles to a single user, just so I could assign both an Admin and Board Member role.

Thanks for reaching out Ed. The plugin is definitely not set up to have users with multiple roles. That said, the tool does support WordPress administrators who also serve as board members for the organization. To do this set up each person who serves both roles as an “Administrator”. Then when each person logs in to WordPress have them visit the board management pages within the admin. They’ll see a message at the top with a button that allows them to join the board. Hopefully, you shouldn’t need to use the User Role Editor plugin at all.

Instead of asking uses to do the proper thing, which will happen like molasses dripping or not at all, I solved this by simply modified the Board Member role to have the same permissions as an Admin using the User Role Editor plugin.
