    Hi,

Not sure if anybody is also experiencing this behaviour on their installation?

I have a user with the Subscriber role

    Under Membership > All Members,

I assign the same user a subscription and they are added to a group. If I then drop it and then check

    Users > All Users

The user’s Subscriber role is removed. In fact, they no longer have any roles assigned to them.

  • Hi @new_b

I’m having difficulty replicating this issue. I have tried it on my own test site and dropping a subscription has no effect on user roles. To my knowledge Membership doesn’t touch the actual roles, it just adds further restrictions based on the role the user already has.

Can you please confirm the configuration of the levels and subscriptions you have, and if you have any other plugins running that might affect roles?

    Hey there.

Are you assigning a custom role when you add them to a level?

Admin –> Membership –> Access Level

Under the Advanced Tab, you can set a WordPress Role for when they join.

I was just testing adding and removing a subscription to a member but couldn’t recreate the issue you describe.

If you could confirm the configuration of levels and such then we can try to recreate the issue. Perhaps some screenshots? You could put them on tinypic for us to see.

    Take care.

    Hi,

No, I didn’t assign a custom role when I add them to a level.

I have Members plugin installed as well; however, the user I’m testing to add a subscription to is using the default WP subscriber role. After a drop of the subscription, the user’s WP role changes from Subscriber to None.

I am on a multisite installation.

The following are two sets of screenshots:

    Thanks for your help.

Note added: I realized that in one of the screenshots, I had accidentally cropped out the Access Level for Visitors.

    Hello there @new_b,
I’m sorry it took us so long to reply.
Do you still require assistance on this issue?

    Please advise,
    Ari.

    Hi,

Yes, please. Thanks. Were you able to recreate the issue on a multisite installation?

No, unfortunately I was not able to recreate this issue on my installation. I’ve looked for anything that could interfere with this but could not find anything… Have you tried disabling other plugins and see what happens? At least this way we’ll be able to figure out if there’s a conflict with something else…

    Cheers,
    Ari.

    Hey there.

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I just wanted to check in to make sure all was good.

This thread was marked resolved, but please, if you still need help then just respond and open it back up. We can then take it from there. 🙂

Hope you have a fantastic day!
