I have a client with Version 2.3 installed in a production environment only. I am trying to set up a test environment on my local computer. The production environment has three users when the information is viewed in WordPress but there are only 2 in the database and the data values are not the same as those shown in WordPress. Why am I seeing this disconnect?

It is making it impossible to set up a test environment. I don’t want to even consider upgrading to WordPress 2.7.1 if I can’t recreate my current environment; not being able to recreate the current environment makes me doubtful that I will be able to restore production if necessary!

Any help will be gratefully received.

    Hi

What you are describing sounds not possible. WordPress pulls the info you are looking at from a database. Are you positive you are looking at the right database when you are examining the tables?

I agree. Based on my experience with Drupal, all entries in the application have to go into the database. I just entered an unpublished post in production and it does not show up in the database I am connected to. My only conclusion is that I am not looking at the correct database. Unfortunately all I have is the IP provided by the last developer and that is pointing me to the wrong database and files. The IP for the db and cPanel is certainly different than that for the URL.

Thanks for the confirmation that I should see the information change in the database!

Check the wp-config.php file. It should have the database name under // ** MySQL settings ** //
