Users can’t edit profile properly

    Hello,

    I recently installed the BuddyPress plugin and users can click on edit profile, but they can only edit their name. I also disabled the feature that is through WordPress and lets users edit their profile there because it doesn’t show up on users’ profile page of on my social site that BuddyPress manages. Users should be able to edit their profile in the edit option of their profile on my site that BuddyPress manages because the feature is there to do so, but it only allows users to edit what is called “Base Name” under edit profile and they can’t add their bio or anything else. Is there another plugin I have to use with Buddy Press to make it to where users can edit their profile in the edit profile section of their profile on my site that BuddyPress manages? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    I apologize but I’m not seeing a reference to my plugin in the request. Have you deactivated Simple BuddyPress Profile Privacy to see if this resolves the issue and to confirm that this plugin is causing the problem? If that’s the base then turn this plugin back on and turn off all the others excluding BuddyPress itself to see if there is a conflict with another plugin. If the problem is resolved turn on the plugins one by one to see which one is conflicting with this one.

    Simple Buddy Press? Is Simple Buddy Press different than BuddyPress? Have I got the wrong plugin?

    Oh okay. This is a different plugin you created. I’m using the standard BuddyPress. I’ll try deactivating and reactivating the standard BuddyPress to see if that will fix the profile edit problem. If it doesn’t, then is the standard BuddyPress messed up? Do you recommend I use your Simple BuddyPress plugin instead? Please let me know and thanks!

    I did not create BuddyPress. BuddyPress is a totally separate plugin. This is an addon to it. If you disable that then you’ll have no profiles. You should visit https://buddypress.org/ and see if you can get help there.

    Okay, I tried deactivating and reactivating standard BuddyPress but, users still can’t edit profile properly. This is all that is displayed when users click on edit to edit their profile:

    Edit Profile

    Editing “Base” Profile Group
    Name (required)
    This field may be seen by: Everyone

    So, do you think that the standard BuddyPress is messed up or doesn’t have the feature where users can edit their profile properly? If so, then does your Simple BuddyPress plugin allow users to edit their profile properly? If it does, then were can I download your Simple BuddyPress plugin at? I can’t find it anywhere on the net. Thanks!

    I did not create nor am I associated with the core BuddyPress plugin. My plugin will not fix the issue you are having. Please use the support forums at https://buddypress.org/ to see if someone can help you.
