Please help me understand the terms.

First, let me tell you that I have Jetpack e-mail subscribing plug-In installed. People have been signing up, and I see them on the list of subscriber with Jetpack. They are receiving e-mail notices when I post a new article.

    OK . . . that’s settled.

But, here is what I am confused about:

In the User section, I also have a list of people listed as Subscriber. Some are also on the Jetpack list, but some are not. Only when people sign up with this User/Subscriber list, I get an e-mail notice in my inbox.

    Now the questions:

    1. How are these people signing up? – via WordPress Registration?

    2. Are they also receiving e-mail notices when new posts are up?

    3. If they are not getting e-mails, how can I make sure they will?

There are more, but answers to these 3 questions would help me tremendously, because I have been stuck with this issue for a while. And, I would like all of them get the notice.

    Thank you !!!

    Yes

Are they also receiving e-mail notices when new posts are up?

No. Only those users who have signed up via Jetpack.

If they are not getting e-mails, how can I make sure they will?

You’d need to install another plugin to handle these users but – beware – you may end up sending people 2 emails which could come across as spamming.

Thank you for the answer and a wise suggestion.

What would be the best solution for this?

My list is not very long yet, I could manually send e-mail to encourage them to sign up with e-mail subscription. But, I will need to do something as more people will sign up.

What is the name of the plug-In if you know it?

    Thank you.

Personally, I’d leave things well alone. Let people sign up via Jetpack if they want. Some may be subscribed to your site’s RSS feed and so do not need an email alerts. Others may not wish to receive any alerts full stop. Do not force feed things to visitors. It rarely has any positive effect and more often than not causes intense irritation.

Just focus on adding good quality content to your site.

    Indeed.

It is my lack of knowledge that makes me worried . . . they know a lot better than I do about how things work . . lol

Well, just for the sake of my own peace of mind, I “may” add a line in the widget saying something to the effect that WP registration alone will not let them get e-mail notice . . . but again, I may be the only one who did not know it . . right. : )

Anyway, I thank you for your help very much. It is much clearer now in my mind how they are different.

I am sure I will see you again sometime soon.
