Support » Plugin: User Switching » User Switching can’t switch back on subdomain

  • User switching works fine on my primary domain (, but when I use it on a subdomain (, I can switch from admin user to customer user, but then when trying to switch back I get the error message “Could not switch users.”

Is there any easy fix to allow User Switching to work on subdomains as well as primary domain?

Is the subdomain site a separate site from the main one? Or is it part of a multisite network?

User Switching works on any domain, but there’s a chance in this case that the cookies that WordPress is using are getting confused between the two sites.

You could try explicitly setting the COOKIE_DOMAIN constant in your wp-config.php file of each site to see if this resolves the issue.

Subdomain is a separate copy, not a multisite setup. I’ll try what you suggest and see if it works.
