Does anyone know how to find out how often Bing Translate is used per day on a website?

I find slows the loading of all pages and posts, which affects all users and would like to know just how many users it has on my website.

    Regards and thanks,
    Jill

  • Hi Jill,

You may want to check out Google Analytic’s Event Tracker. It allows you to track statistics on specific events such as button clicks.

It’s my understanding that the work of translating and displaying a page is performed on the visitor’s browser using JavaScript, and on Bing Translator’s servers. While an individual user may experience slow performance if their computer us overworked, I wouldn’t expect other visitors to be impacted, and I wouldn’t expect this plugin to be a major contributor to overall load on the server.

Having said that, I might by wrong! So, you might also consider using browser based analytical tools such as firefox’s firebug, an online webpage speed test, or a WordPress performance profiling plugin such as P3.

I hope some of that helps!

You could figure out a ruff estimate of how many people are using it by figuring out how many visitors you are getting from outside countries that speak different languages. You can do this easily with Jetpack by WordPress stats module.

    Sorry for the late responses.

Thanks. The speed of using Bing Translate on a page is fine, but it doubles the loading time of every single page view – according to tools.pingdom.com.
So it affects 100% or our users 🙁

Thanks. Google Analytics say that we get about 170+ counties per month and so far I have only seen 2 pages viewed in Bing Translate. They were from Israel into Hebrew. That is 1 in 50K… which is not high usage.
One other problem with Bing Translate is that tools.pingdom.com show it has lots of minor SOE issues which users cannot fix, expiry periods etc.
But as you are not Bing… so not way for you to fix those issues 🙂

Thanks for your time and hard work,
    Regards,
    Jill
