• Hello, first of all this plugin is cool. But i was wondering is there no way we can personalize email by adding a user shortcode for a firstname or last name? e.g [lastname]. It will really be a great feature. Thank you

This question comes up periodically. The reason there aren’t keyword replacements for user’s first and/or last names is because when an email is sent, it typically is sent to many users at one time.

If you are sending an email to 127 recipients, Email Users will try to send as few email messages as possible so it builds up the BCC header with as many email address as the plugin settings allow based on the BCC limit setting.

If the BCC setting was set to 20, Email Users would send seven (7) email messages to reach all 127 recipients. Message #1 would go to recipient 1-20, #2 would go to 21-40, …, #6 would go to 101-120, and #7 would go to 121-127.

The only way to uniquely address each recipient is to send each one a unique email. That would mean sending 127 separate emails to reach 127 recipients. The plugin was designed to send the minimum number of emails, sending 127 separate emails, while possible by setting the BCC limit to one (1), isn’t the intended use model for the plugin.

To support user keyword replacements the plugin would have to detect the situation where the BCC limit is 1 and the keywords are used or issue a warning when they are used when BCC limit isn’t set to 1. This is possible but I am concerned that adding these keywords will result in a lot of support questions as to why they don’t work.

Hello Mike, Thank you very much for your prompt and concise response. I understand all you have said. But since you say its something that is possible, why not give it a go and see how it turns out. Since plugin is still being maintained. I must say your plugin is Awesome, just that feature missing. Take care
