I’m new to WordPress and have started work on a new website. I have created a user as an Author of posts and have created a post under that user’s login. The “User Roles” described in the Support pages on the WordPress site say :
“An author can edit, publish and delete their posts, as well as upload files/images. Authors do not have access to modify, add, delete, or publish pages.”
However when I login as that user and click on the post I only get an option to View and not Edit or Delete?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Tony

  • When you say “click on the post” – do you mean viewing the post within the website
The user should be able to edit by using the dashboard

Sorry Robin, stupid beginner’s mistake! I had two users with the same name! The post was under one name and I was trying to edit it with logged in with the user name of the other user.

    Slowly, slowly does it 🙂
    Thanks
    Tony

No problem, glad you’re fixed !
