User Role Editor – Problem with the new registration

Hello, I’ve used this plugin on my website: https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-editor/
But I’ve a problem: when a new user registers on my site automatically receives the role of “author”, even if I set the default roles as “subscriber”; can anyone tell me why is this happening?
