# User page starting alias

 * I want profile link to appear as [http://example.com/john](http://example.com/john)
   as oppose to [http://example.com/myprofile/john](http://example.com/myprofile/john)
 * Right now I have to choose a user page in setting and I will always get a link
   something like [http://example.com/userpage/john](http://example.com/userpage/john)
 * How can I get [http://example.com/john](http://example.com/john) ?

 * I doubt that will work without customizing the plugin. As you likely know, the
   UM permalink base offers the following choices for user profile links:
 * 1. Username
    2. Firstname-lastname (hyphen separator) 3. Firstname+lastname (
   plus sign separator) 4. Firstname.lastname (period separator) 5. User ID
 * Without the link prefix, e.g., /user, the plugin has no way to distinguish between
   a post or page on your site of the same name and those that represent user profiles.

 * verysiberian is correct. This is not possible with the plugin as all profiles
   are served from the user page so require user in the URL.
