  • Disable all of those plugins and give it a try. That is a quick and easy way to know for sure if you have a conflict.

Nope, plugins don’t seem to effect it. I’ve also changed the theme in case it was theme related but nothing yet. Any ideas, apart from a reinstall?

It sounds like something cookie related so check that your browser is accepting cookies.

I don’t know that you have to completely reinstall. I’d try just re-uploading the files on top of the existing one, so long as you re-upload the same version. You don’t want to try upgrading that way. You might be missing a file or two.

As it turns out, I had to reinstall anyway due to a possible hacker. Uploaded everything again as everything but the databases was deleted from the site by the hacker, and the user still not staying logged in to view private pages. I’m a bit befuddled by it all.

Many thanks for the help so far.

Even if you reinstalled it might be worth re-uploading. FTP can hang and files end up missing or corrupt. Of course that can depend on server and FTP client also. Filezilla seems to be pretty reliable. I only just started using it though.

Do you have an URL? Can I create an account on your site? That is, can users self-register? And if so would the account have access to the private pages you mention?

I uploaded the wordpress zip to the site via cPanel and extracted on the server, so I’m fairly sure the installation was flawless.

URL is http://www.dennis-and-fiona.co.uk . If you click on the Blog tab, I’ve created a post that is set to Private, with the title Private Page Test. Its not showing up when I log in as Admin, or under a test account. Users can self register with admin approval (I may need to check that since the reinstall)

When you do log in, the user gets redirected to the Dashboard, so something is happening, though clicking on the view site button still won’t show up the private posts.

    Test account btw is:
    User: test
    Password: test123

    Problem solved.

Had under general settings for blog address blog.website.com instead of http://www.website.com/blog
