Support » Plugin: Ultimate Member - User Profile & Membership Plugin » User model is broken and needs work. Not ready for production level systems.

  • I was reviewing Ultimate Member for commercial use in a number of other sites I manage and own. I needed multiple roles as there are other plugins such as a booking systems. Multiple roles is quite common as WordPress is part of app ecosystem and it is the way that these apps allow the end user to control access to their plugin.

The Ultimate Member seems to forget that they are part of this ecosystem and openly Ultimate Member states “Users are part of WordPress install and not our plugin. With WordPress users can only have one role.”. To me this sounds like they are unwilling to consider other common plugins in there design which makes their app fundamentally flawed. They do seem to be actively trying to improve their product though. So hopefully one day this app will be production ready.

When adding multiple roles, Ultimate Member just stops showing any users. When removing the multiple roles plugin, the Ultimate Member plugin is corrupt and requires a complete reinstall to start working again.

  • Okay they seemed to have fixed some items. A very quick response but there are still a few bugs.

They seem to have done some fixes so at least it shows results and does not crash now when doing a search. However searching under tags such as language does not seem to filter results. It just simply shows the results filtered by role. When editing the role of user and saving. It saves the role as null. This is quite a serious bug as I reset a user from student to teacher which was also an admin and it set the role to null.
