Support » Plugin: Import Users from CSV » User ID import Issue

  • Hello there!
I been searching for a couple of days now for an issue I have and none of the solutions seems to work for me.

I have a massive DB with users and its necessary to import their existing ID

So if I just import the CSV every data is filled correcty but its gets intresting when I add the IDs and the username to the database and I run the import its skips a lot of data. From a few hundred users I got 3 e-mail filled. Nothing else.

If I fill the ID – email before I run the import – First its runs for ages. while running i see its imported more data then in the first case but still I had like 10 email from a few hundred.

The “Update user when a username or email exists” is checked.

    Display name never gets filled.

Have a great day you all!

    Hi @gmmpb00

I’m sorry to hear you are having this problem, I am going to run some tests for this and will revert back as soon as I can to import users with specific user ID’s.

Also, if you have a lot of users 100s to 1000s. Please break these up into smaller batches as this plugin doesn’t use batch processing and large import files may timeout due to hosting restrictions etc.

If you need a solution urgently, please reach out to a local WordPress developer as they should be able to run a custom SQL import for you.

    Hello Andrew!

First of all many thanks for your time. It was urgent I luckily managed it with custom SQL import, and I’ll use this plugin to update the custom fields. I am not there yet, but all users are in, with their unique ID. This plugin is a great help to update their metadata. I tried for a few hundred users, I hope it will work for the whole table at one go, I am on localhost I set up the stuff not to get timeout and once the tables are ready to go I just upload to the host.
    In theory it should work.
What I found was an issue if i give an ID for the plugin it assumes the user already exist and if it does it will update the fields. If it does not exist it will create it but not with the ID i put in.

So I ended up updating the wp_users table hash the passwords with sql m5 and it works fine.

Indeed no plugin updates the ID for my best knowledge I tried many plugins even premium ones does not get the job done. Its isn’t so difficult to do it manually, actually i ended up migrating everything manually from users to forums and user portfolios.

Migrate stuffs with unique IDs and complex data seems to overwhelm all import plugins. Also it not too ideal to chunk the csv cause I really have a massive user count.

I will update if I am done.

Anyways many thanks for your time, and also for this great plugin.
    Have a great day!
