 * I recently visited a site with two small boxes on the upper right with + and –
   sign which allowed the visitor to make the overall font larger or smaller. Does
   anyone know what this feature might be?

 * Hi:
    You can use a plugin like [this](http://bueltge.de/wp-schift-veraendern-fontsize-und-font-plugin/140)
   or use a javascript in the header or even a php script for fontsize change (you
   can add PHP Code Snippets in the templates with [this plugin](http://jackborn.com/blog/2006/01/06/wordpress-plugin-safe-include/))
   Good luck
