User consent info in banner
-
I was watching a tutorial in my language about the GDPR requirements, where it’s explained what actually is required by law and what’s not.
From what I have seen, keeping track of user consent is not actually mandatory, so I assume this means that the “Records of consent” feature can be disabled. But what they require is that the user can see when the consent was given, so in that part of the tutorial is shown the Cookiebot banner, which contains date, time and consent ID.
Since I can’t upload a screenshot, in this video you can see what I’m referring to (at 27:06 to be precise)
I was wondering if this can also be achievable with Complianz, so I can get rid of all those data from the “Records of consent” page.
Thanks in advance,
Marco

Hi @chefspuntozero,
Complianz does not display this information on the Cookie Banner itself. You can use either Proof of Consent or Records of Consent (Premium) to provide proof that shows a particular process did occur in obtaining valid consent.
More information about Proof of Consent/Records of Consent and how these features can help you conform to the legal obligations under the GDPR, can be found in our earlier articles on the subject:

Kind regards, Jarno
Hello Jarno,
Thanks for your kind reply.I’ve read both posts already, but still it’s not clear to me how to reach the Proof of Consent in case of need.
Is there any video around that can show the steps?
Best,
MarcoHi @chefspuntozero,
In the back-end you would navigate to Complianz -> Proof of Consent, and click the Generate Now button. This generates a PDF document containing the Cookie Policy and the cookie consent settings, to prove consent for the
time and region as specified in the document.Kind regards, Jarno
I don’t have these menu items, Jarno: I can only browse to Complianz > Records of consent, if that’s what you mean.
From there I have the list of the “censored” IPs (with consent type and so on) and “Generate proof of consent file” (I assume this is the one you are referring to), “Export to csv” and “Read more” buttons on the top.
By the way, I also see in the top right corner of the page I have the “Premium” button, besides the Documentation link: shouldn’t this be hidden since I already have purchased the premium version?Lastly, if I delete all records of consent, can I just rely on the “Generate proof of consent file” button in case of I’m being asked from the authorities?
Thank you!Hi @chefspuntozero,
Yes, I’m referring to the “Generate proof of consent” button. But if you do not want to use Records of Consent (store individual records of consent), and just revert to “Proof of Consent”, you can disable it in the Wizard (Wizard -> Security & Consent).
The “Premium” button will indeed be replaced with a “Support” button in upcoming releases
While we can’t provide legal advice (and especially on these forums), I can recommend the following article for further details on how “Proof of Consent” can be used to demonstrate the process that occurred to obtain valid consent, whilst respecting the principle of data minimization: https://complianz.io/consent/
For further questions about the Premium plugin, please contact us via https://complianz.io/support/ as this Forum may only be used to discuss the Free version.
Kind regards, Jarno
Alright, thank you Jarno for your kind reply
