  • Resolved ProfC

Hi, I have this problem: many users of my social network have lost their Avatar and Gravatar. Instead of the original image I can see a broken link icon. Besides this, If I try to upload a new image I cannot do it, It gives me back a black frame. The Avatar directory is the default one, wp-content/uploads/avatars. I can see it if I right-click on the image box, with a sub-directory for each user, I guess, named 1, 2 etc. Should I change this directory and where?

I don’t know why it did happen.

    My configuration is
    Buddypress 1.7
    WP 3.5.1

    and many other buddypress-related plug-ins.

    Many thanks,

    Upgrade to BP 1.7.1

I did it, but it’s the same, avatars and gravatar still broken.
    Please, help me.

    @profc are you on a multisite/network installation?
    – If so, is BuddyPress installed in main site or subsite?
    – If not, then is your WP/BP installed in domain root e.g. or in subdirectory e.g. ?

All my web site in in a subdomain

but it is not a multisite installation

    What can I do?

I think I finally found the solution!

I have installed on my website User Access Manager.
The plugin stopped access to the uploads folder, wherein there are avatars and group-avatars folder.

I opened file .htaccess inside uploads folder and I added these exceptions:

    RewriteCond $1 !^avatars/
    RewriteCond $1 !^group-avatars/

    before this condition

    RewriteRule (.*) /mysite/index.php?uamfiletype=attachment&uamgetfile=$1 [L]
