 * Is there an option to send a email to the admin when a new user has signed up
   and needs to be approved?

 * Ok, so I know there is an option to send admin emails..
 * However, only users are receiving emails. The activation email and approved emails
   are being sent to the new users. The email request to approve a new user is NOT
   being sent to the admin. Please help

 * It is working now. I installed the wp mail stmp plugin, not sure if thats what
   did it.

 * Emails should already be getting sent, even just from BuddyPress alone. Sounds
   like the STMP plugin likely cleared up an issue you were having with the site
   specifically.
