    Dear Community,

We struggled with this for a while, found the root cause, and now have a solution.

    Issue:

In most cases, when an iPhone or iPad user visits your website, Google Analytics will register and display the visitor as a Desktop user. This particular issue is the result of Privacy software changes introduced into Safari beginning with iOS 14.

    Solution:

While we cannot control the Privacy settings of our website visitors, please know that to “fix” the above condition, this is all you/they have to do:

    (1) If you have a Privacy extension installed for Safari, say, AdBlock, do the following (within your iPhone or iPad): Go to Settings > Safari > Extensions > AdGuard – Privacy and disable it.

    (2) Go to Settings > Safari > Settings for Websites > Request Desktop Website and disable it.

    (3) Go back to Google Analytics to verify your iPhone and iPad visits are being properly detected. That is, as a Mobile (green) and Tablet (blue) device, respectively.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Cheers!
