Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » Used for three minutes, found two bugs!

  • OK, so I used this for three minutes and found two bugs!

    1) I added a single event to the current month. I then used the event search in the calendar, to find that event, but the ‘spinner’ continually animates, and never finds the event! Very slow, or buggy… this is on localhost on a fast machine.

    2) I exported the .ics file, but OSX Calendar App says that file can’t be read.

    If I find two bugs so quickly, it gives me little faith in the quality of the rest of the product.

  • Wrong, three bugs found! On uninstalling, I saw this:

    Deletion failed: {“success”:false,”data”:{“delete”:”plugin”,”slug”:”the-events-calendar”,”plugin”:”the-events-calendar\/the-events-calendar.php”,”pluginName”:”The Events Calendar”,”errorMessage”:”Could not fully remove the plugin the-events-calendar\/the-events-calendar.php.”}}

    Hi, @speedy_snail. Sorry you experienced this.

    Whenever you see a spinning wheel, there’s likely a console error that can give a clue what might be wrong.
    (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)

    2 & 3:

    These aren’t known issues (not sure if I’ve ever seen either of these reported before). Therefore, it’s likely there is a theme or plugin conflict.

    Whenever troubleshooting, it’s best to enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (which will create a file on your server at /wp-content/debug.log if there are any WP_DEBUG messages) and share any debug messages you see while trying to replicate this issue and doing other things on your site relevant to this ticket (such as visiting your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and anything else you can think to do).

    If there’s nothing obvious (such as a console error or WP_DEBUG message) pointing you to what might be the problem, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

    Note that may prove helpful as well. (third-party, not guaranteed or supported by us)

    Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups as well as performing modifications first on a staging site before modifying anything on your live/production site.

    Let us know what you find out so we can learn if there are any theme or plugin conflicts or maybe something else going on.
