# Use WordPress as a CMS?

 * I want to build a site with:
    static pages, eg. contact, documents etc. blog —
   wordpress frontpage, which is a search engine using PHP and Sphinx which I’ll
   code.
 * What’s the best way to accomplish this?
 * Can I some how make the frontpage a page and have a link to blog?
    What about
   doing search results would I have to make a plugin?

 * Yes to all of those questions. All able to do via a WordPress install. WordPress
   comes with it’s own search facility in-built, you can make any page the homepage
   and you can have a blog section, documents, contact page and a whole lot more.

 * Thanks, the search engine is actually a separate part of the site searching it’s
   own dataset not blog posts.
 * Is that still possible, I assume I need to write a plugin?
