Support » Plugin: The Events Calendar » “Use updated calendar designs” not working

  • When I enable Events > Settings > Display tab > Use updated calendar designs, my calendar disappears and the events are just showing a list of comments from users. On the backend everything looks good but on the frontend it’s just a mess.

This happens regardless of other plugins. I tried deactivating everything but The Events Calendar and I get the same result.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I have same issue.

    I found the reason.

Event template has to be setup for “default event template”. If you using “default site template” for that, new view not working.

I think that it may be connected with sites which uses sidebars, because new calendar design always want to load full width.

You’re right, it works with “default event template” but not with any of the other templates. Unfortunately “default event template” eliminates my sidebars, which I need, and it makes my background transparent, which makes everything look chaotic. This is obviously a bug and I will be surprised if they don’t fix it soon.

    Hi @calango84,

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

If you’d prefer, you can use the default events template, and then add the sidebar in using a template override.

You can read more about template overrides here:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/custom-templates-for-the-updated-calendar-views/

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks,
    Jaime

You’re right @siergiejpoz, switching to Default Events Template does fix it.. however @jaimemarchwinski, having to switch to the default events template and overriding for displaying a sidebar should not have to be a requirement as you offer the option to change the Events template and it always worked pre-5.0.3.

There are plenty of others experiencing the same issue and this user offered a potential solution but nobody has even acknowledged it. I’ve tested his solution and it does work, however I shouldn’t have to be editing plugin files in order to get the plugin to work properly.

    @adbowp

You are absolutely right about the need to switch. That should not be a requirement.

To keep things focused we’ll be continuing the conversation in this thread.

    Thanks,
    Andras

My issues are not resolved yet. Can we shift the focus back to this thread since this thread was marked as resolved?

@aguseo do you know if there will be an update that aims to fix this? I just checked the new version and the issue still remains.

    Hi @calango84

Sorry to hear about that. I’d be happy to help you figure that out.
What did you try so far?
Do you maybe have a staging site where we could investigate this?

    A.
