“Use Universal Analytics” option missing

    I wanted to check “Use Universal Analytics”, but it’s not there.

    It’s described in this help page:
    https://semperplugins.com/documentation/advanced-google-analytics-settings/

    But when I go to /wp-admin/admin.php?page=all-in-one-seo-pack%2Faioseop_class.php and scroll through “Google Settings”, it’s not there.

    I already have a Google Analytics ID set.

    I’m on v AIOSEO 2.10.1 using WP 5.0.3

    For context, I’m doing this because I am looking into Google Ads, and hence want to use the Google Analytics tag to identify the page, and the gtab library to set up trackable events. But I’m just a beginner at that.

    Does this depend on another setting?

    @drianmcdonald Good question (and catch). After Universal Analytics became the operating standard, we removed support for the old version of Google Analytics. This means that you no longer have to enable a specific setting and that we use Universal Analytics by default. We apparently forgot to update that specific documentation page. I’ll make sure that we do now. 🙂

    Thanks :). Then this leads on to my real problem, which might just be with my understanding of the libraries.

    I tried to call ‘gtag()’ in the Chrome developer tools console on my page, and it wasn’t recognised. I can’t see where you’re incorporating the Google Javascript libraries (which I assume means they’re buried in another library).

    Is there a block of Javascript where I can access library functions like ‘gtag()’? Or do you leave them accessible via a particular global object?
