Support » Fixing WordPress » Use the Excerpt function for single posts?

    Hello,

Here is a link to my site. As you can see, most of what I write is movie reviews, and I would like to always have them show up as full posts. However, I occasionally write about other things and they tend to be lengthy posts, so I would prefer to have those posts only show up as Excerpts on the main page, with the full content available by clicking the post title (or read more link).

I’m just wondering if this is possible through the default setup, or perhaps if there is a plugin available that adds this functionality. I haven’t been able to find an answer through my various searches, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Wow, this forum moves quickly. I had to go half a dozen pages deep to find my topic! No ideas?

On those longer posts, you can insert the “More” quick-tag manually from the editor at any point in your post.

“more – <!–more–> WordPress tag that breaks a post into “teaser” and content sections. Type a few paragraphs, insert this tag, then compose the rest of your post. On your blog’s home page you’ll see only those first paragraphs with a hyperlink ((more…)), which when followed displays the rest of the post’s content. “
