  • I’ve started to use the “post by email” plugin. Initial tests, without PIN security were ok; but when I’m trying to the use PIN security feature validation always fails.

For initial testing I’ve simply used the text as in example [pin 12345]. This is enabled in the settings and I’ve tried inserting it in many places/positions of the email that I’m sending

Is there an example of using PIN ?.. what is the syntax ? … where is it placed in the email being sent ?

    help will be appreciated

  • Sorry, I’m not sure what you are referring to. Postie doesn’t have a “PIN security” feature.

Kate’s “post by email” plugin … as highlight in recent articles around the feature being dropped from core

Postie and “post by email” are completely separate plugins.

    Hi Tony,

You should be able to put the PIN anywhere in the email. Have you double-checked that you’re really using the same PIN as in the settings? (If you want to use “12345”, you do need to put that into the text box, not just check the box.)

Are you using something unusual as a PIN (long, special characters, etc.)?

Can you try sending the email as plain-text and see if that fixes the issue?

    Plain text did the trick.
    Many Thanks Kat

Oh, good! However, that’s a bug — you shouldn’t *have* to use plain text to use PIN authentication. What mail client are you using? Can you do me a favor and forward a NON plain text email to so I can take a look?

Rich text pin from apple mail works fine.

Great plugin! Just what I need for a club with lots of members. Solves the problems of letting members post without having to learn tiny MCE and without giving them access to the media library.
