Use More Tag instead of Excerpt

Loving the functionality of the live search so far but haven’t explored it completely.
Wondering if there is an option to somehow change from using excerpts to the more tag. Perhaps even a priority sequence of [More Tag] > [Excerpt] > [Number of Characters to use].Thanks!
