  • I can change the footer text in the footer.php file with no problem, but I want o minimize the number of files I modify in a theme. I want to use a filter hook. I’m am making a child theme for twentyten. I’ve searched for a while, but cannot find a simple example.

    For instance, change the text in the lower right of the twentyten theme from:
    Proudly powered by WordPress. Install WordPress web hosting
    to:
    this is the new footer text

    I need something like:
    function function_name{
    -function stuff here-
    }
    add_filter (‘????’,’function_name’);

    How do I figure out what goes in place of ????
    When do I have to remove something first?

  • You can’t add a filter to that text in Twenty Ten’s footer as there’s no filter applied in the parent theme at that point.
