    Hi Guido,

Thanks for such a simple event listing plugin. I’d like to display my events (on the shortcode page) in an even more simple 2-column format. Featured Image on the left, and then in the right column, Title, Meta and Summary on 3 rows. I can’t seem to figure out how to make that work.

Also, how can I make the width of the list match my theme width for page content? Its only using about 60% of the page width

    Thanks for your help!
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,

The featured image and the event text are inside the same container, so with custom CSS only it’s not possible to list the featured image underneath the meta, and the event text on the right side. If you’re also using the ACF plugin, you can consider adding a custom image field, all ACF fields are displayed underneath the Location field, so in the meta section.

The total width of the event list should be 100%… so if that’s not the case there must be something inside your theme preventing that. Do you have an URL of your site?

Thanks Guido. Can you tell me where in the Plugin code I can edit the code to re-arrange the containers? I am comfortable making the edits I’m just not clear on which files contain the relevant code.

    Thanks

    Hi,

You can change the featured image code from file “vsel-page-template” and file “vsel-widget-template” (for widget). Look for the code-block underneath comment // featured image and move it underneath the // categories code-block. Now it’s inside the meta section.

About the width.. the event list is inside the column with CSS class col-sm-8 and that’s not a full width column. Guess it should be the col-sm-12 column. You should change the page layout, via your theme settings or by changing page template. Hopefully that’s possible with your theme.

Thanks Guido. I have been able to move blocks of code around and add some custom CSS to my site to get the plugin to work beautifully for my needs. Appreciate your help and thanks for such a valuable and easy to use tool!

It would be great in a future version if you could offer the choice of a 2- or 3-column layout, place each field (and the featured image) in the column of your choice and in the vertical order you want within the column.

    Hi Nick,

Because this plugin is around for several years and has quite a few users, it’s kind of tricky to add major changes to its template. Don’t want to cause problems with customized event lists of users.

Unfortunately it’s also not possible to override the template via your own (child) theme. Did look into this earlier this year, but it’s way too much work for me to support this feature.
