    Hello there,

I have an issue. I have set the permalink in wordpress with .html. I also have installed Yoast Seo plugin. This plugin creates a slug and pasted at the back of my permalink that I have set.

Does someone know how to avoid the slug? Or a different plugin? I wanted to have .html so I tried to add it at the back of the slug and removed the permalink, but it doesn’t show .html but instead of that it shows -html . So that is also not an option.

Why is .html so important? WP slugs do not allow for the dot character. Slugs must be solely alphanumeric lower case. The only allowed special character is the hyphen -. Attempting to deviate from this causes quite a bit of trouble in unexpected ways.

It is important because my old website is build in magento and has .html
So I don’t want to lose the seo traffic and etc. This way it can be smoothly set into wordpress without loss.

My developer found a way so issue is fixed 🙂

Good to hear. For anyone landing here from a search, what I would do is setup a .htaccess rewrite that 301 redirects all .html requests to -html. Any accrued page rank will be eventually attributed to the new slug. In the interim the old links still work. This would mean any static .html files would be inaccessible unless the rewrite conditions exclude folders that have such files.
