URL not behaving on posts (Windows) (4 posts)

This has been verified on WP 3.4.2 and 3.6

    Windows 2008 IIS7 server
Replicated on another server, with another new test/dev site, Windows 2008 R2 IIS7.5

Pages appear to be fine. If the wrong URL is used, it's 404.
    Posts are not.

    Canonical post:
    http://www.sample.com/blogcat/subcat/post.html

However, it also shows up here:
    http://www.sample.com/blogcat/post.html
    http://www.sample.com/subcat/post.html
    http://www.sample.com/anything_i_want_to_type_here/post.html
    http://www.sample.com/http://google.com/post.html
    http://www.sample.com/#$%&/post.html

Something is wrong. As long as "post.html" is the ending of the URL, anything goes.

    No plugins were used.
The default 2011 theme was used.
htaccess (Windows) and web.config were both disabled on a index.php test version.

This issue did not exist on WordPress 2.9.2
This issue is with WordPress 3.4+ (maybe 3.0 - 3.3).

    Why is this happening?

  2. Can you provide a real set of links that you can share to illustrate this problem?

Yes, but not in public. (Private only.)
For public consumption, I'll need to set up a dummy domain on the dev server.
If needed, I can do that tomorrow. Let me know.

  4. Private support isn't offered via this forums nor do these forums have any private mail capabilities.

If you can setup a list of public URLs and share those then it'll make it easier for others to see what's going (http status codes, etc.) and possibly help you out.

Your description is good but seeing real URLs can often make it easier to find the problem.
