• Hi guys,

I would like to redirect some of the WordPress tag urls to Woocommerce product categories. I’m using the plugin Redirection for years and am happy with it.

    But there’s a weird issue:

Once I do the redirect and load the redirected url in my browser, the page is being redirected properly. Redirect checker shows 301 correctly, but when I click the tag from a post page (the tags at the end of the articles), the old url appears, no redirection. If I do a refresh of the page, still the old url is shown. The redirection happens once I select the address in the url field and press Enter.

    You can see here: bit.ly/2eHNbbx
The tag for tests is: обзавеждане за баня

    How to fix this?

Note: there’s no caching plugin or similar.

Also, what happens with all redirects made with the plugin if I remove the plugin?

    Thanks

I don’t know what to do with the URL provided above to check this further. Redirection has nothing to do with tags or changing page links, and if you are experiencing something different it is likely a theme issue.

If you remove the plugin the redirects will stop working.

    Hi John,

thanks for your reply. I’ve been waiting for some time, and couldn’t find a solution, so I removed the redirect from the url, given as a sample above. You can’t reproduce the issue anymore.

What I wanted to do, is to redirect wordpress tag urls to woocommerce category pages. I needed to redirect the user to the woocommerce page when the tag url is being clicked while reading a wordpress post.

The fact that the redirects will stop working once the plugin is removed, isn’t nice…

Redirection will redirect any matching pattern that you create. If that is sufficient for you to match your tag URLs then it should work fine.

Not nice how? If you remove the plugin then it will not run. That is the only thing that can happen.
